My family roots are in Kerala, but we all migrated to Tamil Nadu aeons ago... so we speak Tamil. I know a little bit of Malayalam here and there.
My hometown in India is in Kerala, it is called 'Palghat' (UK spelling) and Palakkad (Indian Spelling). It is on NH47, some 50 kms south of Coimbatore near the KL-TN border. It's a fairly big town; no Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram, but...it's there.Comment

I speak Hindi and Tamil very well, and I can get by in Malayalam. So Urdu is not really a problem for me. I can also read Hindi.

that's really funny... I was actually born in Palakkad, and I spent two weeks there just this past summer. I loove Kerala so much; its such a beautiful state. I've also been to Kanyakumari before, also beautiful. I think we've been to that Meenakshi temple there...
