A few weeks ago at JFK while waiting to board a flight to FLL on JB, a man kept telling me how much he loved the 757 and how happy he was that he would be flying on one, and he kept pointing to the A320. I kept saying to him "it's an Airbus A320," but he "corrected me" saying no, I know it's a 757. I've seen plenty of them.

              I hate these phrases...

              "I miss the 727"
              "I miss the DC-10"
              "I miss the L-1011"
              "I miss the MD-11"
"When is Southwest gonna assign seats?"
"When is Southwest gonna fly to Colorado / Hawaii?"
"Does Southwest ship pets?" (NO - It's inhumane!)
"Southwest is not always the cheapest."
"Southwest is scared to fly into DFW against AA."

Most of you guys have come up with some good ones!! I can imagine them being so annoying. I hear this alot from my own family members..

one of u said it , so when do you drive the planes?
also, my mom thinks every plane is a 747. yes..even the cessna's that fly to my regional airport. Most of you guys covered them!

I always love it when some guy thinks he knows planes, and when talking (i heard this from a guy in ATL) that a DC-9 was built in 1994

Maybe it's a Colombian or Latin American thing, but I hate people who clap when the airplane lands.

It's good to know you're grateful you've made it safely to your destination, but is it really necessary to clap???

Personally I'd have no problem being called a F-16 driver ... of course, that is under the assumption that people really know that pilots fly planes. I usually reserve the word 'puddlejumper' to describe 30-seat or smaller turboprops.

Usually, when someone says something that isn't quite factual, I'll just let it slide and not let it bug me. Life's too short to make a fuss over little things like these.

I guess that'd depend on the airline you've just flown with. I imagine some of the poeple are clapping because they know they were lucky to have made it!

Don't take that too seriously bud

Also you find a lot of engineers and people in the business seem to call pilots drivers. It's not a lack of knowledge, it's just a thing that it done. Like F/A's are trolly dolly's, you know.
