  • Vice President Dick Cheney hospitalized

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Vice President Dick Cheney is undergoing tests at George Washington University Hospital after experiencing shortness of breath, the White House said Saturday.

It is unknown whether Cheney, who has a history of heart problems, will be admitted. Dan Bartlett, White House communications director, said Cheney has been suffering from a cold recently.

Because it was unclear if his shortness of breath was related to the cold or not, and given his history of heart disease, it was the recommendation of the White House medical unit that he go to the hospital for tests.

It's kinda funny how the forum filter bleeped out his name.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

              Update:

Vice President Dick Cheney underwent tests at a hospital Saturday after experiencing shortness of breath, the White House said.

Cheney walked out of George Washington University Hospital on Saturday afternoon, smiled and waved to reporters, but made no comment. Asked how she felt about the incident, his wife, Lynne, said, "Great. Thanks."

An electrocardiogram and a scan of the vice president's implant cardioverter defibrillator showed nothing abnormal, White House adviser Mary Matalin said.

In the case Cheney would not be able to continue his job as vice prosident, who will replace him?

I believe the Speaker of the House is next in line.

If i recall correctly if he should resign Prez Bush will make an appointment to the office then that person would have to be confirmed by the Senate. So no the Speaker of the House is NOT next in line.

P.S Anyone who still has a Bush/Cheney or Kerry/Edwards Sign on the screen name needs to get a life!!!!!!!! Damn people the election is long over!!!!!!!!!!!

If the President and VP both die, then the Speaker of the House would be President.

But for what is going on now, if there was a vacancy, because President Bush is still alive, yes he would make an appointment which would have to be approved by both houses.
