Re: Wisdom teeth - What was Evolution thinking?

I've had two taken out in operations at a dental hospital, they had to open my gums & then drill away the jaw around the roots to get them out, that wasn't fun.

Had another one taken out while I was in Islamabad and 15 minutes later was in a local restaurant with some colleagues. One of them asked why I was late so I just plonked the tooth on the table

I had a root canal done (on the one that was subsequently removed in Islamabad) in Dubai once & it obviously wasn't a proper job, flew out of there on the jumpseat of a C130 and just the pressure difference as we started to rotate (the main-gear was still on the ground!) gave the most indescribible pain..... The FE reached over with some Nurofen tablets, I picked out two & he said "er, no, have all of them", this struck me as a good idea so I did. I can assure you that 6 500mg Nurofens does wonders for toothache (although probably isn't too good for the liver!).

Yes. had both right wisdom teeth pulled this Monday. The operation was pretty harmless, although when pulling out the upper right it felt like the doctor tried to press my head into a vice, but still, no pain. But now, it's Wednesday, the right side of my face still looks like a friggin' ballon, I haven't eaten since Sunday, the gum at the operated areas are slowly enclosing my backteeht, and the wounds still hurt like hell, even though I have now tried Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Vanquish, but nothing helps. I feel really dirty. So for those who also had their wisdom teeth pulled, any tips to overcome the pain (besides cooling the area)?

Same. Geez this is a pain- can't do anything.
I know how you feel For me the doctors had to drill into my gum, all the way to right under my nose find a tooth Then they hook a braces bracket on it, you dont know the pain
You were under for it, right?

Well, the numbing injections wore off a couple hours ago and pain became quite noticable, so I popped two Hydrocodones and now I'm back in LaLa Land. Thank God for pain killers.

I had all four of mine removed in early July (the bottom two were growing horizontally and beginning to hurt). The surgeon was so good he did it all in 15 minutes - I was knocked out though (through an IV tube). The swelling didn't get as bad as I expected, thanks to the ice-packs and medicine; and the bleeding stopped after a few hours. The first day I ate congee (liquid rice), and the next few days after that I got mashed pasta in tomato sauce (which was actually pretty good) and eventually meals that included soft bread. I guess I was lucky, as the most pain I ever felt was a bit of soreness in my jaw, thanks to the painkiller. Anyway, most of my time was spent watching TV and doing mindless activities (lol, I don't remember what). It also helped that my brother went through the same thing at the same time.

          Oh man that stinks.

I got my stitches out today- stopped the hydrocodone (wow that stuff was fun!) and am on ibuprofen. Have been able to eat soft foods, so didn't lose any weight like I was hoping. Oh well. So yeah- everything's 'bout back to normal.
