I think kmch meant that Ipods are a fad.
I have an RCA Lyra and it works fine for me. It just depends on how many songs you are going to want to have. Ipods can have hundreds or thousands. But you have to ask yourself if you would ever actually fill it up. If you would, then go for it.

I have an Ipod and my brother has a mini, its small and lightweight, unless you have a big music collection, I dont reccomend you spend the money on the Ipod.

Not sure what your price range is but this one is $500 Canadian. I got mine on Sunday and its been fantastic so far. Holds about 13,000 songs (all the power to you if you can fill it up). Personally I think its worth the money but I can't say for sure since I won mine in a contest and didn't pay a penny for it. Even if you don't get this one I suggest you maybe look at some cheaper ones made by Sony because by my experience they seem to be the best. Hope this helps.

That thing is neat, never seen the Sony version(s). Personaly, the ipod is the best to me. I have just a little 128MB, cause I was not allowed to get an ipod. Anyways, how did you win that thing????
                    Thanks,
                    Michael

I had never seen the sony ones either until just a little while ago. I won it when I was shopping over at the mall with a friend who takes quite a long time to buy things so to waste time I was filling out ballots for prizes in every store I went into. Aapparently in one of them I filled one out for an MP3 player and the next morning I woke up to a phone call saying congragulations come on down and get it today. Pretty good Christmas for me so far

4 gig drive, 1000 songs...I have a second generation 10 gig iPod. I have exactly 42 meg of space left on it. You'll learn to fill it up.

I like the RCA ones that can take SD/MMC cards. A 1 or 2 gig card is pretty cheap depending where you get them.

Do HD based players (iPOD and such) skip at all? Those mini hard drives seem so fragile. My players usually take a beating. My Sony minidisc player has held up quite well!

It's all about being disposable for me!

a little off topic, anyone see that freeipods web site? a guy I know claims its legit, and he did recently get an ipod, hrmmm!
