  • blue tooth for your notebook internet card

I'm going to be buying the Hp zd8000 soon and there is two different internet cards one of them is the 54g(TM) 802.11b/g WLAN w/
125HSM/SpeedBooster(TM) and the other is the 54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth. Which one should I go for? What is the big deal with Bluetooth?

802.11 is an international standard for wireless computer networking b is 11 Megabits per second, G is much faster at 54 Mb/s.. Not sure exactly about the speed booster other than it is faster again, (may be a compression trick similar to a digital zoom on a camera)

Bluetooth is a radio technology that allows connectivity of items not traditionally associated with computer networking, ie video or still cameras, mp3 players, handheld organisers or video games, even home appliances. looks like it is going to be even bigger in the near future.

Linksys has an explaination of the Speedboost on their web site, but I can't connect to it atm.

I'd go with Blue Tooth over Speedboost. If you're just going to do some web stuff and your'e not going to do a lot of large file transfers between your laptop and PC or whatever, the speedboost is no use to you.

Edit: That's large transfers between your laptop and PC via a Speedbost enabled router like the Linksys WRT54G)
