  • My first Christmas in Heaven.

Hey all. I recently lost my Grandfather December 10th. We had the funeral and my aunt found a beautiful prayer/poem to be read at the funeral. It was very moving and simply brought tears to my eyes. It was a final reminder of the reality of it all. For those that are religious and believe in this stuff this is for you. If you are not it is still a nice read. So for those that have lost a loved one or a friend near the holidays this is a nice one to read to let you know where they are and what they are seeing. major tearjerker!!! Least it was for me.

    My first christmas in Heaven

I see the countless christmas trees
    around the world below
with tiny lights like heaven's stars
    reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that
    tear
for I am spending christmas with jesus christ this
    year

I hear the many christmas songs
    that people hold so dear
but the sounds of music can't compare
to the christmas choir up here
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices
    bring
for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing

i know how much you miss me
i see the pain inside your heart
but i am not so far away, we really aren't apart
so be happy for me dear one you know I hold you dear
and be glad im spending christmas with jesus christ
    this year

I send you each a special gift
    from my heavenly home above
i send you each a memory
    of my undying love
after all "love" is the gift
    more precious then pure gold
    it was always most important
    in the stories jesus told

please love and keep each other
as my father said to do
for i can't count the blessings of love
he has for each of you
    so, have a merry christmas
    and wipe away that tear
    remember, i'm spending christmas
    with jesus christ this year

I know how it is...I'm sorry for the loss. I just recently lost a family member on November 28 and the last time I got to see him was on Thanksgiving at the San Diego Hospice where he said some very touching words to all the family. I had to take emergency leave for a week to attend his funeral.

It's a very touching poem. Thanks for sharing it with us.
      Happy Holidays

That is a great poem Alex. I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. As you already know, my grandfather passed away in October, we played the song "I can only Imagine" and it was sort of moving.

I can only imagine what it will be like
When i walk by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When your face is before me
        I can only imagine
        I can only imagine

        Surrounded by your glory
        What will my heart feel?
Will i dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
        Will I sing Halelluja?
Will I be able to speak at all?
        I can only imagine
        I can only imagine

I can only imagine when that day comes
And i find myself standing in the sun
I can only imagine when all i will do
        Is forever, forever worship you
        I can only imagine
        I can only imagine

        Surrounded by your glory
        What will my heart feel?
Will i dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
        Will I sing Halelluja?
Will I be able to speak at all?
        I can only imagine, yeah
        I can only imagine
I can only imagine, yeah, yeah, yeah

        Surrounded by your glory
        What will my heart feel?
Will i dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
        Will I sing Halelluja?
Will I be able to speak at all?
        I can only imagine, yeah

I can only imagine, yeah, yeah
        I can only imagine, Yeah
        I can only imagine
I can only imagine, Ohh yeah
        I can only imagine

I can only imagine when all i will do
        is forever, forever worship you
        I can only imagine

It made so many people sad...that funeral was so sad. It makes me feel good to of been a part of it, I decided to be a pall bearer and was glad I did.

Again, my condolences to your family alex.

Many thanks to your condolences, it was an extremely hard weekend to get through but we all must go on....

Patrick that is a beautiful song. We didnt play any "real" songs at our funeral, just hymns and regular i love jesus christ songs haha. But it was that poem that really made me realize the reality of it all..
