  • Where were you when you heard about Sept. 11?

A disclaimer before hand: Don't talk about Iraq it doesn't figure into Sept. 11. And this is no way meant to deride victims of this awful day.

I woke up 6 am to the sounds of M.J. anouncing he will play for the Wizards. I crawled into the shower and eventually made it on to the bus to sschool. I had Geometry and then went to Biology. I then went to band class. A kid who had been in the media center came down and said a plane had hit the WTC. I was like yeah it was a moron in a Cessna. I put my textbook away in another room. And when I came out they had hooked up the T.V. to CNN and it showed the WTC billowing smoke. Then there was a flash and the 2nd tower was burning also. It was a surreal situation. Class ended and I wandered to Spanish class. I told him that the WTC was burning he told me I was stupid. I told the sub teacher to turn on the TV. By this point the towers had collapsed. The day continued surreally till I got home (early) and sat and looked at the wall. i knew the day 9/11 would live as a day of sadness forever.

I was at home. I think it was evening and I was watching TV (this was when I was in India). In the ad-break I started channel surfing, and came across this on the news. I learned of Princess Diana's death the same way - channel surfing during the ad's.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

We had a fun games day at school (Tanuj, Challenge By Choice to be exact) and HK is 12 hours ahead of NY. Neways I was working on my maths homework, exponential equations to be exact when my dad calls me from the living room about something on TV. I said I'd be up in sec. Then he hollered down that a plane had hit the WTC. So curious I head upstairs to look. Then I see Tower 1 with this massive hole and thick smoke pouring out of the upper floors. So we were watching then we saw the second plane hit, the pentagon go hit, and each tower collapsing. I stayed up till 2am (2pm EST) watching it in shock, horror, and sympathy....

When we got to school TV's were set up showing horrifying footage from that tragic day.

I arrived home from school at 16:20 (10:20 in NY), and my mother told me what had happened. She had seen everything live from the second plane on, I only saw the second tower collapse. That was already enough for me...

I was right there. I saw the whole fucking thing with my very own eyes. I used to work two blocks north of the WTC on Park Place. You never forget an event like that...

I kept watching the thing all day.

I was the first person in my entire school to know about it.

I came down for breakfast and my dad ushered me to the TV (He knows I love planes and cool buildings...this is a MUST SEE!!!) and I sat down and ate my nasty Eggo Waffles... and then the second plane hit. I went toschool 5 minutes later, told my teacher and friends what happened.
                  REACTIONS:

Teacher: That is not a ncie thing to say! How could you....I think you need a detention or two....

Students: &^%*(_^(^!!! stop making &*^(* up, you stupid mother %^%^% fool!

And then we flipped the news on, and I got my detentions cleared. First period lasted the whole day- we just sat and watched the news untill 4, when we went home and watched the news.

I had just finished my math homework and switched on the radio. They said something about a plane chrash in NY first. Later I heard something about the WTC. I thought of a small jet, that hit the building by accident. Then I walked into the living room and switched on TV.
I didn't really understand it first. Then I went to my friend and we watched the tragedy together. All those news coming in were shoking and some turned out to be false (news about several other crashes) and then there was a report aboutr the pentagon and then... and then...

Someone from my town managed to escape from the subway station and survived.
                    Andy

                      Hi,
On this day I was in school oblivious to what was happening in the USA. When I got home from school my Dad rang me and told me to turn on the TV. Well the rest I guess you can figure out. The next day at school we had 2 minutes silence before registration.

                      Thanks

I was at school, we left early. I didn't know what happened until I came home and turned on the TV. Back in 2001 I was still living on the military base (Ft. Drum) and all cars going through were searched. Even the trains were stopped and inspected. The next day we were 2 hours late for school because they wouldn't let the buses on base.

I was working in the city that day downtown; we watched the whole thing unfold from the roof of my former company’s building. I was never so happy to get home later that day, which is more then I can say for the 3000+ people who died that day. 9/11 is the signal reason why people like the Taliban, Saddam, and others can no longer be allowed to remain in power.

Flying to Washington DC. SNA-DEN-IAD. I was not on the aircraft but at the airport, we planned on a 747 non-stop from LAX to IAD, but decided to take this later segment. Trip was off, and I had to go to school. The god damn teacher said that it wasn't important enough to watch! They're nuts! Got home, and watched all that day, didn't see anything live.

                            A horrible day.

I was in my Economics class and my teachers son was in the WTC but not in building 1 or 2 so he called her and told her to put on the TV. I remember talking to my buddy about Ed McCaffrey a Wide Receiver for the Denver Broncos breaking his leg the night before on Monday Night Football and how it was the worst thing I have ever seen. Little would I know what would take place that day. I watched the day play out on TV in each of my classes and at home. I will never forget that night when the skys were all quiet and then I heard the f-15s on the CAPs for Miami and South Florida. Then I saw them refueling. I also heard all of it on my scanner. Truly an amazing and sad day which I will never forget.
Try to catch me flyin dirty...
