I was wondering how many of you guys have stopped uploading to that other site. I have gotten one photo rejected here out of 77 uploads. I have never gotten a photo accepted at A.net. I don't upload everything I take either. I self-screen alot. And take my best from here and try over there and they are always rejected. I hate it.
Just venting.
Peace...
I think the "other site's" problem isn't so much the rejections... if I had 370,00 pictures in my database I would only want the best. The problem is the lack of consistency. I uploaded a few pics to there... there were a few that I think were beyond horrible that got accepted while the ones I thought were the best didn't.
The other site has very high quality photos and thats great, but they lack consitency in thier screening process. If, however you want lots of people to C your shots, then this is the place! I hope JP.net will become as popular and well known
I have almost stopped uploading to A.net, but my last upload got me 56 pounds due to Flight International wanting 2 use it. A nice benefit from having photos seen by the right people.
Anyways whenever I get the chance I tell people about this great site Im doing what I can to promote JP.net
It has been simple for me: after some 50 accepted pics here, I picked out my 5 best, and uploaded them at the other site. All of them were rejected. That was the last time I visited A.net...
I upload there, and I upload here. I will continue with both. I will say I get a ton more views over there, and have made a nice piece of change as well. But, I enjoy this site, and it is on it's way into it's own market.
Don't think for a minute it is just the camera that gets you "in" there. I have over one hundred in over there with a measly C-700. What I have done is "gone to school" on the success of others. Learn what works, and if you like that type of picture, practice until you get it.
example: I have got one Lauda Air pic in the database and I uploaded another one which looked totally different (close-up, weather, date!) and it was rejected because " You already have photos of this Aircraft in our Database "!
So how many photographers are there having tons of pics of the same airplane added, taken at the same date?
I'm just about to see my 500th shot accepted at A.net and I have no problem working with all three main sites. There is no doubt that uploading here and at PP.net is both easier and more friendly (when I say easier I mean the actual upload page itself and also the fact that the standards are not so hard to reach).
It's unlikely that I'll stop uploading to A.net despite all the problems of the last few days. It is very frustrating to see the inconsistencies in the screening, but I don't think that is ever going to change. With regards to equiptment, my D30 is second hand but my lenses are all new, I enjoy my photography and if A.net didn't exist I would still use the same equiptment-I want my pictures to be as good as I can get them to be. I'm fortunate that my job pays enough for me to afford good camera gear and travel abroad to take different pictures. The recent 'how old are you' survey proved that most members are under 25 and many are still in school so it's no surprise that there are a lot of people using low-mid range cameras.
But having a D30 is no guarentee of success, I have had my fair share of rubbish shots-it's a good job you guys only see my uploads!
