  • MAJOR TORNADO HITS OKLAHOMA CITY

Just unbelievable... this is just bad man!! Another tornado has just hit north Oklahoma City... Some locatiosnthat appear to be hard hit are Warr Acres, Bethany, SE Edmond. Tonnes of power flashes throughout the north side and west side. Just incredible, I'm a metoerology student here and I (or for that matter anybody else, I'm assuming) haven't seen anything like this... though it's possible if you have the right conditions. Down here in Norman (about 25 miles south of the damage path), we're safe, but we got some power surges. It's still continuing on the ground as I'm typing this... major long-track tornado. More later...
"Ok, I'm gonna get as many as I can on that SW pad there, uh... ok, Amarillo, you're #1, Houston-#2, Albuquerque #3, Phoenix-#4, Chicago-#5, Seattle-#6...

    Congratulations, Seattle!"

The power of "Mother Nature" can be frightening at times. I have been in two different hurrricanes and know what you mean. Get somewhere safe, and keep track of your family and friends, you never know when those things will strike.

Re: Damage not as heavy as in South OKC and Moore, but...

The damage is definitely not as bad in North OKC as in Moore and Southern parts of the city b/v the tornado hopped around a lot, but planes at Wiley Post Airport have been tossed around, there has been some substantial damage to one the school buildings at an elementary school and one long-time business has been completely lost. And then of course, power lines and trees were snapped and uprooted. However, another large mile-wide tornado that formed and passed through Stroud (ENE of OKC area, just 20 miles up I-44) may have done some more intense damage. It grew to a mile wide and was a wedge at one point.
