im sorry jid, but amd has never made a 3ghz part... they have however made processors that run at a lower speed(ie 2 ghz) that oporate as fast as a 3ghz processor... depending on what they claimed it ran at they called it the XX00+(ie a 3.2 ghz part would be called a 3200+...)

also, i dont think that ati ever made a 9800 pro pci express(not sure if any of the 9 series made it into pci express).... ah well, [/computer know it all mode]

I have 2 P3 900's w/80gb HDs, 512MB ram that I use for testing scripts and programs for work, no monitors/keyboards/etc attached..one runs FreeBSD, the other Slackware Linux.

Work computer that I use for end user type testing is a Dell Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHZ/512MB ram, 160gb HD, 17" Flat Panel Monitor. Running WinXP Home.

My main computer is custom made, featuring:
                  MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard
                  AMD Athlon64 3500+ CPU
2gb OCZ Platnium Revision 2 RAM Dual channel
A total of 1.1TB HD space (Over 8 drives)
                  A Cooler Master CMStacker case
2 600W Enermax PSUs (just a little overkill!)
                  1 Liteon DVD ROM
                  1 Liteon CD-RW
1 LG DVD-RW (I kept the CD-RW because the LG DVD writer doesn't do CDs so well)
1 Floppy drive that doesn't match the colour of the case .. grr!
ATI Radeon All in Wonder 9800 Pro
Monitor sucks, saving up the money for a new one :|
                  WinXP Pro

Last 2 computers have Logitech wireless trackballs and keyboards.

                  Edited; forgot Video card

Only a sensible man would do that! And as most know, that's not me!

Theres an additional 2 Maxtor UDMA133 controllers. This is my first motherboard that supports RAID or SATA, I will set it up though sometime soon. I'm not 100% sure how to implement it right now. When I have more time I'll read up on it.

ACMan: I always like the Commador PET. The multi-coloured "THINKING!" screen was the highlight of grade2 computing.

I have a real crapbox. Its a few years old but still runs pretty damn well. :rollwink:

                            Pentium Celeron 1.3 GHz
                            512mb DDR RAM
nVidia GeForce 4 MX or something along those lines
40 GB hard drive (I've run out of room! )
6 GB hard drive for important stuff
CD & DVD burner/reader (the DVD burner is real handy for backups)

                            And thats roughly it

Not necessarily, a lot of people still use 98(including me, until a couple months ago)
