    a grey one............

    something like 500megs of ram
some sort of AMD 1800 chip
    100 gigs of hard drives
    Geforce 3 Ti 200
    2 drives DVD/DVDRW

gets the job done..... I'd rather spend my $$$ on photo equipment.

Don't forget the ZX Spectrum 48k+. That was the first computer I ever had which i got for christmas in 1984. Used to load games via a cassette player. I then moved onto a Spectrum plus 3 which was 128k and had a built in 3" (not 3.5) floppy disk drive. Then I moved onto the Amiga 512k, which I upgraded to a whole 1Mb, and added a second floppy drive (Hard disks were way too expensive).

These days i'm using a desktop for photo editing and screening which is a custom build, and an HP Compaq laptop for general web browsing etc when i'm too lazy to get out of bed.

    Desktop (Custom):

    AMD Athlon 2000+
    512Mb DDR
    2 x 80Gb HD
    1 x DVD Writer (Lite-on)
1 x DVD reader (Creative 3 yr old)
    2 x 128mb graphics cards (Cheapo G-force things)
    1 x 17" E-yama TFT (web browsing/general use)
    1 x 17" Samsung CRT (photo editing/screening)
Cr*ppy integrated sound card (cos my Creative Audigy caused conflicts)
Epson R300 photo printer (one superb value printer)

Nothing wrong with older OS's, I used MSDOS 6.22 until Win98SE was out. I still spend a lot of time in the command shell. Pointing and clicking sucks
