If you like crazy people, cold weather, paranoid secuirty/police/rent-a-cops all mixed together you will enjoy New York on New Years Eve.

I can't beleive you'd spend 30 hours on a plane when you can spend 4 hours on a plane and spend NYE in Sydney

Did it a few years ago. My suggestion: Save your money and time. It's 5000x better watching it on TV at a party or at home.

Coming from a native New Yorker and current resident. Don't waste your money!!! New Years eve in Times Square Sucks!! They corral you into these sections and basically lock you in; you can't even leave to go to the bathroom. Oh and if its really cold just forget about it then. If you really want to do the Times Square thing I'd suggest getting a room at the Marriott Marquis with a view of the ball and have a hotel rom party with some friends. You get to stay warm and move about without restriction.

Nada. Its not about staying at home. But dont go where the masses are, find yourself a banging party instead
