I'm actually stunned it took three pages for that to pop up...... when I saw the thread topic I said to myself "damn that's a loaded question"

I used to play the African Drums! Wish I could still play them but my new school doesn't seem to like to expand its horizions much when it comes to instruments

That reminds me of Grade9 when I played steel drums. Once school had a nice music program, quite a few different things to choose from.

No other school ever had anything close to that.

I think it is bad that schools don't offer as much as they could music wise. But I think if my school that I go to now did do African drumming me and some of my friend would have improved lots by now, but sadly most of them (i think) have forgot how the music we played went. Another good think about if schools intoduced more exotic insturuments in to schools is they could enter competitions, thats what happend in my old school we got thru to play at the royal festival hall in London because we played African drums and it wasn't a common instrumet being played at this compotition! If we had won we would have played at the Proms in London and got on tv!

I used to have a similar set, except for the cymbals were all Zildjian.

That was until 2 months ago when I invested $1500 in a brand new Tama Rockstar with brand new Zildjian cymbals. Seems worth it so far.
