There doesn't need to be demand to keep a thread open does there? Threads can be boring as well as interesting. What some people find boring other people find interesting.

Many people just like to read some threads...not necessarily post in them.

I wouldn't say it was needed to keep it open, but to unlock it I'd say there would be.

"Demand" was also the reason stated for the action.
