-No one wanted to go to Bali after the Bali bombings

Well knowing that terrorists are around there security was hiked up bigtime. Also, resorts, shops, and other services lowered their prices bigtime to lure travellers back. Well with such high security then wouldn't you feel safe? With that in mind it doesn't sound so bad vacationing in Bali.

-No one wants to fly in Asia due to SARS

Well if there's no one flying, then how will you get SARS? Last time I checked seats don't cough. Also, airlines are lowering prices to fill seats. Doesn't sound like a bad time to fly with that in mind does it?

I would go to both those places if I wasn't in school. I want to fly on a 777 by myself.

Seats don't cough, but there is debate on just how long the virus lives on objects. Three to four days has been mentioned. So hypothetically, if someone sneezed or coughed on the plane on Monday, then anyone coming into contact with that area of the plane could potentially contract the virus late Thursday or early Friday.

Doesn't make sense to me either but who said people act logically??? My thing is what is going to happen is going to happen, why waste your life away worrying about it.

I really love these media "disasters." They make a mountain out of a mole hill.

I'm taking advantage of these ridiculous fares and leaving for 6 days and 5 nights in Tokyo on Saturday. Its cheaper then going to the UK.

          I'll bring back some pictures.

By the way Jeff. Yes what you're saying is true but airlines have since decontaminated the interior of many of their still operational jets (if they havent stuck them in storage yet) and now temperatures must be taken at airports. Sounds pretty safe to me.

The Bali logic is one that I have been trying to explain to people since day one. If terrorists attacked Bali once, and security there was beefed up, then it is highly unlikely that they would attack again. Infact, the safest place to have been after the Bali bombings was Bali itself.

As for SARS, i think it lasts for upto 20 hours on a surface, but the virus dies if the temperature goes above 28 degrees celcius. Maybe that's why SARS has nearly gone in Hong Kong, because th temperatures have steadily stayed above 30 degrees. And lemme tell ya all one more thing, life is back to normal in hong kong.
