  • Belgian elections

    On May 18, we Belgians went voting for parliament. Here are the results for Flanders:

    1) VLD (liberals): 24.2% (+1.5%)
    2) sp.a-spirit (socialists): 23.5% (+8.4%)
    3) CD&V (conservatives): 21.0% (-1.4%)
    4) VLAAMS BLOK (far-right nationalists): 17.9% (+2.5%)
    5) N-VA (nationalists): 4.8% (0.0%)
    6) Agalev (green party): 3.9% (-6.6%)
    -) Others: 4.7% (-4.4%)

    Maybe you guys have another view on this than us who are in the middle of it...

    Looks like you guys are screwed. Liberals and Socialists in the lead.

    Just give them all your money, and they will give it those more in need of it!

      And finally, the cumulative federal results:

      1) Socialists: 27.9% (+8.2%)
      2) Liberals: 26.8% (+2.4%)
      3) Conservatives: 18.8% (-1.2%)
      4) Nationalists: 16.7% (+2.2%)
      5) Greens: 5.6% (-8.7%)
      -) Others: 4.2% (-2.9%)

      Next elections: Flemish parliament in 2004.

        Yeah, couldn't have said it better. But hey, we're already used to it, it's been like that since 1999. We're already happy we're rid of those Greens...

            Yeah, and what's worse is that, if not Guy "Rabbit Tooth" Verhofstadt, one of these two will be our new prime minister...
