  • CAA certificate: official class 2 medical certificate required??

    Hey all!
I have been calling back and forth to different airlines here in Denmark, asking them how to become a flight attendant. They have all asked me to get a CAA certificate and then, asked me to check out AirMed's home page, since they educate f/a's and give out CAA certificate, which they all said was required. That, I did. And I found out the requirements for taking this course:

    - Minimum recommended height 1.60m for women and 1.70m for men
    - Secondary education completed
    - Able to swim 100m in 2 minutes 30 sec.
    - Official class 2 medical certificate
    - Knowledge of English language.

I meet all of these requirements, except for the bolded one. WHAT exactly is official class 2 medical certificate? I know what medical certificate is, but what on EARTH does class 2 mean? Can anyone explain to me what exactly what this certificate is?

I appreciate your help! Also, just to include the link, here's the entire page about AirMed's flight attendant/cabin crew course:

    Thanks!

In New Zealand one of the requirements to hold a Private Pilots Licence is a class 2 aviation medical certificate, going by your post it's obviously a requirement also for Flight Attendants in general.

If your health is good overall you will have no trouble gaining one. The examination is pretty basic, there's no finger up the a*s or anything like that.

A list of all the licenced aviation medical practitioner's in your area shouldent be to difficult to get hold of.

      OH!!! Okay, now i'm happy

I thought this "medical certificate" would be a certificate that stated you had gone through a first aid course- apparently, I was wrong, and I'm pretty happy about that!

We only have "basic" first aid courses here in Denmark, so "class 2" pretty much freaked me out
But if it's only a certificate that states you're in good health, I'm pretty much set I recently viewed a list of doctors who are certified to give pilots their health check, and there are a couple in my area, so this is easily done!
Thanks so much Messerschmitt! You saved my life!
