"I don't look at it as censorship," says State Representative Gerald Allen. "I look at it as protecting the hearts and souls and minds of our children."
Yeah, because sheltering our children from everything that the bible doesn't say something good about and telling them its from hell is a great way to help kids!
BTW, I can't belive that bullshit, only a true ignorant bastard who wants to force his religous belifes on everybody would say something like that. I am discusted at this...Wu Tang Clan: best rap group of all time

But in book after book, Allen reads what he calls the "homosexual agenda," and he's alarmed.
When the time for the vote in the legislature came there were not enough state legislators present for the vote, so the measure died automatically.

"I think it's an absolutely absurd bill," says Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

It's sad when people are judged this way. We had a huge problem in Peterborough County in the late 1970's where a Church group wanted the books written by Margaret Laurence (The Diviners, The Stone Angel, A Jest of God etc) banned from the schools and libraries. One of our neighbours came to our door with one of the books and the "bad" passages underlined. She wanted my parents to sign a petition to remove these books. This lady kept quoting the Bible and telling them about the "horrible" parts in the book.
My Mom asked he if she had read the entire book, the lady had not. Her Pastor had underlined the "horrible" parts and sent the congregation out to gather signatures.
I've never seen my Mom get so mad. She tore a strip off that lady and threw her out of the house. Mom even went to the Board of Education and to City Hall to help defeat these petitions. We are regular Church going people, however we also believe you are free to read what you want and think with your brain, not someone elses.
When I went to university I had Margaret Laurence for a tutorial leader in my 3rd year English class. What a wonderful lady and an excellent writer. Ms. Laurence was still upset years later that these "holy rollers" tried to ban her books.

This is a dumbass bill. Never gonna get passed."The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."
