From what I understand this bill was killed as soon as it reached committe (per an a report at A.Net's non-Av forum). While I am not a big fan of Alabama I can't imagine Alabamans being so stupid as to shoot themselves in the foot like that.
Some of these 'bible thumpers' are cut from the same cloth as their predecessors some 45 years back who were screaming about the dangers of racial intergration. As I said, I believe this bill was wisely killed very quickly. Alabama can not afford a repeat of the 60s.
One person is not the mouthpiece for every american. Because we are free we can have people stand up and say what they think even if you disagree with it. I can tolerate him and I can tolerate those authors. No one can stop them from speaking out. You don't have to agree, you don't have to listen. just let them speak.

Considering that Alabama does not allow the sale of "sex toys" anywhere in the state, it wouldn't surprise me if they were stupid enough to shoot themselves in the foot. With laws and attitudes like this, I can see the gay population avoiding the state of Alabama when making vacation/travel plans.

I think the term "he needs to be shot" was not meant to be taken literally. But realistically, his view of the world is completely wrong...I'm glad you can at least see that, seeing how so many republicans also happen to be some of the most homophobic on the planet...or in some extreme cases...the exact opposite!
It seems queer culture is being thrown into the arena of antisocial acts. What has been done to criminalise the media which contains, and/or encourages violent and criminal behaviour?
