  • Magnitude 7.0 earthquake rock n. Japan

    An earthquake, measured in Magnitude 7.0 (M6.0 "weak", acoording to Japan) has rocked the norther Japanese city of Sendai.

    The quake struck at 1824LT, sending peoples to the streets with minor chaos.



    No reports of deaths, only 5 injured. The airport (include Tokyo) was shut down for few minutes.

    Japan's minister of disaster management, Yoshitada Konoike, told a news conference that it was it was "absolutely inconceivable that there could be damage similar to that after the Hanshin Awaji earthquake".

    The Hanshin Awaji quake devastated Kobe in western Japan in 1995 and left 6,430 dead.

    I heard about 100 injured people and small damages to buildings.
    Just keep in mind what happened after the earthquake in Algier last week with about 2000 victims.
