  • Funnel Cloud: 0 Andrew C: 1

Heard there was a storm coming, but I didn't expect this! Went for a chase !

The mesocyclone which I did not expect!

Cant tell if it touched down or not, but its close!

Flying down the highway trying to get to the south of it

Here it is coming right over us!

Passing us, wind blew us off the road!

    Too close for comfort!

Going away from us at about 60 miles/hour

Was awesome! So, thats the 4th funnel cloud I have seen !

I used to be so scared and I would look for the funnel cloud shape and if I saw it, I would freak out.

When and where was this? I didn't know there was a storm of that magnitude moving through Southern Ontario. Nice pics!

I remember My first tornado. Tornados are very uncommon in Ithaca because it is so hilly but we have had a few. The biggest one ever near this area was a T2 and was on the lake. Winds were a good 60-80mph. The second it hit land it just died down and went away.

I don't mean to slam you or anything, that's not my intention. But I couldn't help notice you said tornadoes aren't common in Ithaca because it's so hilly. That is one of the common misnomers. It's not because your area is hilly, it's because of the fact that you guys don't get strong shearing and other factors necessary for the formation of tornadoes as often as other locations do. Then again, Worcestor, MA was hit by an F4 in 1953, so it can happen, but is quite rare.
