Someone was stabbed near my house.

I found out today that somebody got stabbed not even half a block away from where I live.... For such a small city, it's pretty rough. We had something like 80 homicides last year.

I shouldn't say "small city", it's not that small, but still, it's smaller than say, Atlanta.
