This is a good middle class affluent town in the outer suburbs of London, and I bet the parents of these dumba$$es think their kids could not possibly be involved in such recklessness....*sigh*.

This exact same thing happens before and after every Seattle Mariner's home game. Safeco Feild has busy train tracks on both the West and East sides of it. When the trains go by, instead of waiting 4 or 5 minutes, there are allways at least 6 idiots who jump on them and walk over. This means the trains have to slow down even more to avoid killing these idiots, making the sane people wait even longer to cross the street. It is very annoying, but not uncommon at all.

How big of a problem is that in the UK. When I read the UK train mags there is usually at least one incident pertaing to trespassing. However in Trains mag for instance, or in the US much at all, that kind of trespassing. Just curious about it.

I saw a documentary about extreme activities, and there was a feature about thos subway "surfers" in New York. They climb on top of the subway cars from the roof of the stations, and jump off at the stop before going underground. They say it's the only ghetto thing that hasn't been accepted by the mainstream

Unfortunately the train was not moving at the time-but check out the live rail next to the running lines, full of 750kv of power and the cause of death for several retards every year, we had one two weeks ago which involved a young girl which was quite traumatic for all involved but in most cases you shrug your shoulders, assume natural selection has taken it's course and then get on with the rest of your day.

April: Idiot climbs over side of bridge and onto tracks (similar to above picture), idiot touches the live rail, idiot dies.

Feb: 3 numbnuts take a short cut home after a drinking session, one numbnut trips over onto live rail, numbnut dies. Two other numbnuts leave him dying and run off.

Last summer: 2 kids playing on the tracks, concerned local shouts at them to try and get them off the track, concerned local gets an earful of colourful language from the female of the two kids, 30 seconds later loudmouth female gets fried (fatally).

You have to desensitize yourself to this kind of thing when you work in this industry, we had a sequence of 5 people being hit and killed by trains in just 3 weeks-and that was just in our area (50miles by 100 miles). Each one of those was a suicide by the way-we don't go around randonmly killing people if we can help it.

Life must be dull there

on a serious note,
these kids seem to under-estimate the power of a train, and the live rail.
Thing i don't get is, why does the UK still have this system? Overhead wires might be more expensive, but that's a helluva lot safer.
problem then is that they need new trains.

P.S. I know there are some Overhead wire routes in the UK , i believe most are in the north, in the south they mostly use this system right ?

Thing that pisses me off about the people that commit suicide by jumping in front of a train, even though he's not really responsible, could you imagine how the driver of a train must feel after the train hits and kills somebody. Even if I was 100% sure it wasn't my fault, I'm sure that would scar me for life.

apparently a train vs a car is like a car vs a tin can, so what a train does to a human doesn't leave much to the imagination at all.

According to the news this morning some kid fell onto the overhead wires, got fried, fell on the track and got run over. And he's/she's still alive, although he/she lost a leg.

Idiot kids will do anything if they think it looks "big" to their mates. If they are on railway tracks illegaly then they deserve everything they get. I feel sorry for the parents who think their little treasures would never do this sort of thing. No amount of signs or warnings will stop them.

Ah well, shit happens - then you're dead!
