A warning for a tsunami tommorow morning triggered by a 7.0 earthquake was just issued! Wow...it was on CNN as breaking news and on every channel here...I'll put up a story as soon as I find one. I wonder what will happen...
Think it would be big? I wonder if it will damage San Francisco at all...
hopefully this is just everybody being paranoid because they want to avoid what happened in asia, but at least San Francisco is in a bay so hopefully that should stop most of one if that were to happen.
Per KRON4 in SF at 9:12PM, the tsunami warning has ben LIFTED!
thats good...just issued the warning too. It got suddenly windy right after the warning too so i guess that freaked people out...does that have anything to do with the waves?

I don't think winds are related to tsunamis because the wave energy travels near the sea floor and only surfaces as waves when it reaches shallow waters, where the energy wavelengths shorten and become more powerful. So winds shouldn't be a sign of tsunamis, but a sudden change in the water (receding water, turbid water,.....) is something to look out for.

After the unfortune events in Asia, for sure there would be some higher alerts or paranoia for coastal populations, especially those near earthquake/volcanic regions, for quite some time in the near future.....at least until the memories of that tragic Boxing Day cool down a bit more.
