We'll be getting those Ashes back this summer!!! (Hey we have to enjoy thrashing you by 100 runs in the Twenty20 as long as possible while it lasts ) Could be a great Test series this summer. I have my ticket for Lords. I can't wait!
(ps. How many people have no idea what I'm going on about. My estimate...nearly everyone )
I'm glad I raised a few puzzled expressions!! Indeed it is cricket. A fine game where you can sit all day drinking beer (in the sun hopefully!!). Essentially Australia have been by far the best cricket team in the world for a number of years and take great delight in rubbing our noses in this fact. But England now have one of there best teams in years and have a great chance of beating the Aussies in a series of matches known as "The Ashes Tests". The Ashes themselves are contained in probably the world's smallest sporting trophy about 10 centimetres tall and are supposedly the remains of the burnt bails (part of the cricket stumps) of the first England/Australia match. Lords is the cricket ground in London which is the "Home of Cricket". I will be there in July with the added bonus of being able to see aircraft heading into Heathrow. I have this idea for a shot of a 747 passing next to the famous "Old Father Time" weather vane if I get lucky.
Thus endeth the Ashes history lesson. Thank you for your patience
