You are correct about Spain. But, fortunately, I'm neither Spanish nor do I live in Spain.

good point, the people in the KKK dissagree with blacks haveing their rights, does that mean we should please those people and not give black people their rights?

          Spain Allows Gay Marriages:
          http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/nation...age050630.html

Just two days after Canadian members of Parliament passed same-sex marriage legislation, Spanish lawmakers have voted to allow gays and lesbians to legally marry.

Leader of Spain's Popular Party, Mariano Rajoy, speaks against the bill legalizing gay marriage in the Spanish parliament, Madrid, Thursday, June 30. (AP photo)
The vote in the 350-seat Congress of Deputies was 187 in favour, 147 against and four abstentions.

I think part of our problem is that most people on this site are white anglo saxon men/young men. We haven't been discriminated against like women, blacks, gays/lesbians, muslims and a host of other people.

If you don't suffer discrimination it can be hard to fathom how people who are discriminated against feel. You can read books/papers or watch movies on discrimination, but until you are on the receiving end of hate you don't know what it is like.

I completely agree. Often times, you hear heterosexual/white/male people say that they are discriminated against by homosexual/visible minority/feminist support groups/organizations/etc. because of things like gay pride parades, black history month, etc. But they have no idea what real, wide-spread, and accepted (historically) discrimination is like.

                Weak, very weak.

If they want to have sex with someone of their own sex...let them. But, when it comes to a state (gov't) sanctioned marriage, there is a difference. Benefits in the form of tax breaks, medical insurance, social security benefits etc., are financed through taxes. Taxes that people pay. When the majority of tax payers don't want to support spending on gays, and the problems associated with them (increased health care costs, higher rates of STDs, more frequent changing of partners, etc.), then it is the governments duty to support the will of the majority and not allow that spending by not allowing the marriage.

It may not be that way in Canada, but here in the U.S. the states represent the will of the people in the majority.

Now, ...why not allow polygamy? or marriage between adults and children? Why should the government disallow them? Why can't some person marry their dog, cat, horse, etc? Why should the government disallow marriage and bennefits to them? Are you saying they can't love them as much as two gay men love each other? Are you trying to quantify an amount of love? Do you think the gov't should do that?

                Rubbish.

Here in Canada, the federal government also supports the will of the majority. The members of parliament represent ridings, and usually go with the will of their riding, because if they do not, they get booted out come next election.

By the way, this is also the position of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church being against homosexuals is a myth. It's against homosexuality not homosexuals.
What?!!! I do not understand your logic. Its okay for him to be attracted to men, but it is not okay to indulge in passionate displays of his attraction. You would prefer for him to live a cellebate life? You would prefer for him to never experience the act of love, simply due to a genetic pre-disposition? You would prefer for him to remain cellebate whilst the rest of the population, who simply due to a pre-disposition, are allowed to lead sexual live. In other words you want to punish him. You want him to lead a miserable existence. One in which he is guaranteed no pleasure, no solace, no consolation, and most of all a life in which he will not know love. So you really want gay men, you jsut want them to be miserable.

If homosexuals are entitled to demand that their unions are called the same way as heterosexual ones than I think I'm entitled to demand the opposite.

Amazingly, even though you admit that it will not affect you, you seem to have taken this topic to heart and reply to this post as if this is a life altering matter for you. And as for that last sentance, what is it exactly that you are proposing?

But then again, you probably agree with her existence, but not her sexual urges right?
