    July 1st 1867 was the day that the colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Upper (Ontario) and Lower (Quebec) Canada joined to be the Dominion of Canada.
    The other provinces joined (or were created) in;
    1870 - Manitoba
    1871 - British Columbia
    1873 - Prince Edward Island
    1905 - Alberta and Saskatchewan created out of Ruperts Land (Northwest Territories)
    1949 - Newfoundland

    The territories were created in
    1870 - Northwest Territories (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Nunavut all have been carved out of the Northwest Territories)
    1898 - Yukon
    1999 - Nunavut

    July 1st was called Dominion Day until 1982 when it was changed to Canada Day.

    Anything else? Just ask.

    Happy Indie Day to you all down south!!!

    As I was driving home today, I heard on the traffic news that delays at the border crossings are up to 2 HOURS back to US. Seems like everyone's rushing home all at once, it's going to be a looong way home for them....
