IM not sure how current that is, but I know about 6 hours ago, I flew through the beginings of that. It was very very fun!
THE VOICE OF REASON HAS SPOKEN!
Pop quiz: Which US president said, "Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."
George W. Bush is not correct. It was Bill Clinton in his 1998 State of the Union speech. HMMMMMMMMM.

Here in Apple Valley (just south of the Twin Cities) we had a good rain and quite a lightning show around 9PM last night, but there wasn't anything severe around here. There were severe thunderstorm warnings for areas to the east of us a little later.

Ok thanks. So it was nothing compared to the storm that moved through the twin cities when i was there on june 8th I guess. Was that the biggest to hit you so far? I took a picture of the radar image on my phone as it was moving in.

We just got taken out by a similar storm on Sat. night...lightning everywhere (2-3 per second), 110km/hr+ wind, 100mm of rain in under two hours, etc... The city's devastated...trees down, power poles down, some streets with over three feet of water, etc...

And I chased that sucker and got pics. Word.

                  They're being developed

Edit: It WAS at 11:30 PM, so all you're gonna see is a few lightning shots

Damage pictures are forthcoming as well...a buddy of mine took some with his camera. I'll post 'em when I get 'em...

How much, if any, was the airport's operation affected?

Red alert was called for a good two and a half hours, stopping all activity on the apron (and the airport in general) due to lightning strikes. The tower actually had to hold inbound traffic for a while to let the water drain off the runways, as it was a few inches deep in places for a few minutes. The first plane to land (a CRJ) hydroplaned and went around :O

We have had different storms hit different parts of the Twin Cities, but so far this season all the bad storms have missed us here in Apple Valley. There were storms with high winds that hit the north side of the Twin Cities yesterday morning and caused lots of wind damage in those areas.
