  • Twy Gay Iranian Teens hanged.

a post at a.net alerted me to this story

This is frigging sick, just absolutely horrible.

Two gay Iranian teenagers -- one 18, the other believed to be 16 or 17, were executed this week for the "crime" of homosexuality, Irangay_teens the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) reported on July 19.

There are explicit pics of the hanging so be aware. Who the hell cares what they were doing..if anbything if it was that "bad" they should get a scolding at the most, certainly not a hanging of any sort!

Pathetic. Somebody needs a lesson in human rights.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

There's no place for most religions in this world, this is a perfect example why.

This is crazy, Gay sex is maybe illegal in IRAN, but hanging these two boys is so wrong, what a sick country, its even more worse then the woman stoned in africa a few years ago, because she had sex before marriage and born a baby.. I cant remember what country is was, it doesnt matter anyway, what im saying is, like Tanuj said Somebody needs a lesson in human rights.

Welcome back in the 18th or 17th century . Human rights? Not in Iran. This is just pathetic.

You have no clue about what you're spewing.

More like the 12th Century which is where most of Islam seems to be stuck.

I think a big part of the problem is not necesarily the concept of religion itself, but how people practice it and interpert it. The basic flaw seems to be the human being, IMO. Granted, I'm no religious scholar, just someone looking from the outside in. Religion is what one makes of it, IMO.

Some of you may be familiar with Monty Python, some of the younger folk might not. But in their skits in their "Flying Circus: Live at Aspen", Terry Jones puts it best. A comedy act with a good amount of truth to it:

"The thing is that... There's nothing funny about what Christ said; and what's funny, really, is the fact that Christ said all these good things about "Love thy neighbor" and everything, and for the next 2000 years people are killing each other and torturing each other because they can't decide how he said it. "

Well, for Messerschmitt Man his problem is with anyone who professes any religion.

In reality, you’re correct that the problem is not the religion but how people tend to corrupt it. People twist things around in order to fit their own personal agendas without any religious basis. Look at the “God hates fags” morons. They claim to be Christians but are nothing but another hate group hiding behind religion just like Islamic terrorists. They are reviled by every true Christian because they do not preach or practice God’s Word. Because of this they spend a lot of their time protesting in front of other churches. They’re too stupid to actually read the Bible and realize that God doesn’t hate anyone but does hate certain actions.

I tend to agree with you. The extremists of every religion or faith certainly don't do any good to the mainstream populace of the same religion. I'm not of any religious faith or persuasion myself, but do feel that if religion or faith helps someone, then it's served a good purpose. Some say that religion is the cause of all wars. I used to believe this as-written for a long time. But I've come to realize that there's more to it than that. As you say, it's the people within the different religions that choose to have war over their different beliefs. I don't think that mainstream muslims take to heart what their extremist cohorts do, any more than I believe that mainstream Christianity and the extreme right-wing factions have any relation to each other.

I'll have to agree with MikeD and B757300, one simply cannot say all religion is bad simply because a bunch of nutcases use it to further their hatred and intolerance. I for one (and I'm sure many others) use religion for personal growth and to attempt to get closer with God and not to cause harm to anyone or anything I dislike because that's not what its for.

The most bone-chilling thing about this though are some of the responses condemning gays to this article further down the page.

If I'm not mistaken I think it was in Nigeria.

Sheesh... sounds like a witchhunt I wouldn't be surprised if the two weren't gay- what proof did they have in the first place?! And if they were gay, what exactly is wrong with it? The bible says it's a sin without explaining why, it's probably the same with the Koran. People basically listens to a book that doesn't even explain why they should do what it says. How intelligent!

It's idiotic and sad... it really is...
