  • Man shot by police in London underground

London police have confirmed they shot a man at an Underground station in south London, amid reports that he was a would-be suicide bomber.

"We can confirm that just after 10am today armed officers shot a male at Stockwell Underground station," a spokesman for London's Metropolitan Police said.

I hope that this was not a mistake and that this was indeed a would be bomber. I never thought I'd say that I would be glad if someone turned out to be a criminal.

According to witness reports, the guy was shot (dead) 5 times at close range by police on board a tube train and in front of carriage full of passengers.

Eyewitnesses say that the man was wearing a thick coat despite the high temperatures, which alerted some people.

He is right. Everything has more meaning once you have personaly stood where things happen.
THE VOICE OF REASON HAS SPOKEN!
Pop quiz: Which US president said, "Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."
George W. Bush is not correct. It was Bill Clinton in his 1998 State of the Union speech. HMMMMMMMMM.

Amen! Just wish we had that attitude here in Germany, but instead, we act like hosts for terrorists (eg Motassadeq).

He didn't have anything to do with the bombing.

So what justified shooting him five times? Because he had a coat on and had dark skin. Does that automatically make him a terrorist who deserves to be shot in a train full of commuters? Don't get me wrong, if this guy actually had a bomb, then I wouldn't have a problem with him being dead. "Oops, sorry, it was a mistake". Besides, are they not strong enough to hold this guy down and search him?

The investigation into this one will surely be interesting, if the story is indeed true. Interesting, IMO, in the sense that police-related shootings are so rare in Britain, unlike the US.

Thats horrible that he was innocent, but i can't help but think why did he run?! If he didnt run from the police he probably wouldn't have been shot. That probably made him more suspicious then anything else.

Whether he was a terrorist or not he made the wrong decision to run, we can't take any chances, put yourselves in the shoes of an armed officer, and some guy in a baggy coat is running away from you after calls to get down, they had no other choice.
