Yeah, but Kathy is leveraging the fact that people know about the Hilton's for her own gain.

People who watch this crap only promote the facination with a culutre that is inherently a fantasy. "Reality tv" is a myth. The cultural hype is just ratings mongering so the networks make more money. To watch this (and similar shows) merely makes "the people" a slave to the jaded pastimes of a non existent culture. It's a herd mentality that is not serving the public at large very well.
