  • Some photos from Vegas

Now that I'm back, here are a few of my favourites:

Vegas by Night. The big hotel in the foreground (Wynn) is where we stayed. It was nice. Very nice.

And here are two of the musical fountain dance in front of the Bellagio:

    Comments welcome.

    Very nice exposure.
In the first pic, what are the lights in the upper left corner? I'm guessing helicopter or maybe mountain.

Those are probably from a plane. LAS is not far from the left edge of the photo.

Where'd you take the first one from? Considering the angle, my first guess was from one of the upper floors at The Riveria. I took a shot of the Wynn from my room at the Riveria back in April of 2004:

My other guess is from the Stratosphere, assuming you have a decent tele lens.

Its most probably taken from Stratosphere.. Or taken from an aircraft (i.e. helicopter tours..) ANd the lights on the background are coming from facilities on a mountain range southwest of LV..

The overview night shot was taken from the Stratosphere. It'd have to be a very steady aircraft for a 20 sec exposure.

Those lights in the upper corner are probably some UFOs from close-by Area 51 .
Nice pictures, make me allthemore desperate to get back to Vegas.

Sure, do you want the huge original or do you want it at 1024x768?

I didn't have a tripod either. I used the counter by the window.

                        Hey Will,

Nice shots man! Those fountain shots are really nice. The water isnt completely blurred! Were you using a high ISO setting? of a really open lens ? :P

Do you know if they allow you to take tripods up onto the stratosphere? Cause i'd hate myself if I didnt take it only to find out they did!

My problem was that I left my camera in my room, as I was too lazy to carry it with me when I walked to the Stratosphere. That happened a lot, I just didn't feel like having to lug it around and keep an eye on it if I was at the tables. When I go back to Vegas next year, I plan to make up for the lack of Vegas photos (took plenty of Hoover Dam photos though).

I couldn't take my tripod because it's so huge I couldn't fit it into my carry-on bag and I didn't want to check anything.

Adam, I'll talk to you on msn about the fountain shots.
