Awesome. Since she is from upstate NY I'll have to list that as a score for you, because we all know that any girl that lives in NY for more than a month is WELL above the competition...

Yes, thank God it's a hoax. However, we could probably philosophize all day long about whether it's better to (over)react every time there's the slightest possibility of a threat, or just to live out our lives knowing that there are some risks that we mist live with. That's not to say we shouldn't take precautions. It's more of a question of where we should draw the line. There's a very fine line between vigilance and paranoia. It becomes paranoia when we become entrapped, and safety begins to eclipse civil liberties, quality of life etc.

An example: I've probably read most aviation accident reports, so I'm well aware of pretty much everything that can go wrong with an aircraft. So when I board an aircraft I can either focus on every perceived abnormality during the flight, and it's possible consequences, or I can just lay back have a cup of coffee and enjoy the view.

                    Well said I agree 100%.

It's important to take sensible precautions, but apart from that when your times up your times up right.

Or if after taking off, the engine fire indicator (or some other important indicator) goes off, the pilots can land as soon as possible to make sure everything is ok before continuing on the journey. If it turns out to be a faulty indicator, they wasted some of the airline's money and some of their passengers' time. If the indicator was correct and they continued on, however...

Or we could just have our car's airbags deploy every time we drive through an intersection, cause the possibility of an accident happening is yellow errr elevated there (better safe than sorry, right). Again, it's all a matter of how (over)sensitive, (hyper)vigilant and (in)secure we choose to feel.

Security, in my humble opinion, is a state of mind. Adding more deadbolts to my doors does not make me feel safer. Just like NOT locking my door at night doesn't necessarily make me feel more at risk. When chances of something going wrong are so slim, why would I live my life in anticipation of something bad happening?
