Or they could just say that and see what develops. Wether they do or don't, it's just a matter of time before people become complacent. It's human nature.

why would I live my life in anticipation of something bad happening?
Of course you shouldn't...the people in charge of making sure you are safe should, however. Which is why I think that maybe publishing the threat wasn't the best thing...all it did was worry people...but who knows?

And when we become complacent is the moment they attack.

Yeah, there's certainly not an easy clear cut solution.

Thanks for reminding me why I haven't gone to New York City since 2001...

The place is crazy.. police cars all over the place, checking everyones bag in the subway, didn't they try to ban photography in the subway too?. I knew this would end up as a hoax. The guy(s) in Iraq or wherever that made it up is (are) probably laughing their asses off now.

What kind of terrorist would give the date that he is planning to attack… That’s just stupid. The attack will come when nobody expects it, and getting your panties in a wad like NYC did over this one, will do absolutely nothing. Not to mention un-wading them and announcing that to the world too
"Uhh yea, Mister Bin Laden, we are lowering our alert level from scared shitless to overly paranoid, since the date for the attacks has passed"
