this time next year i will be in Russia, my grandmother is from Odessa which is now the Ukraine but was formerly part of the USSR. plan to checkout all the major airports in Russia then take the train back to Peking and fly home from there.

I was born in Russia. In MOscow, but it was in 1989 so it was still USSR.

Unfortunately I haven't been there, but my in-laws just got back from St Petersburg last week. They had a great trip around the Baltic area.

Well, I think this doesn't count but I was at Moscow-Sheremetyevo (SVO) back in the Easter of 1985 for one hour on a refuelling stop. I was flying NRT-CPH with SK and, as far as I know, this was an unusual route (Siberian route) for a Western airline in the USSR days. Most flights between Japan and Europe would stop at ANC on the polar route.

I had to deplane so I was at the terminal.

Would like too. For some reason and despite the bad reputation, I would like to see Siberia. Also, I would like to see the Eastern (Asian) part. Asia, in general, is somewhere I would like to get to. Their culture is fascinating to me.
