I just found out WN flew the remains of Mrs Parks to Washington.
"MDW Chief Pilot Lou Freeman, the first African-American Chief Pilot for a U.S. airline, played a role in history as he flew the body of Rosa Parks on a Southwest plane to memorial services in Montgomery, AL, and Washington to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda. Lou flew nearly 100 people to the services, at one point circling Montgomery and dipping a wing as a tribute to the civil rights pioneer. Parks’ family members, representatives from the NAACP, and members of the Rosa Parks Institute were onboard. Southwest received a full standing ovation at Ms. Parks’ memorial service when the president of the NAACP announced our gift of airline service. "It makes you want to tear up and cry when you think of what she did and what she accomplished," said Lou. "She told us all to stand up for our rights. Just to be able to participate in this is a great honor."

Why are we talking about cidney shheeran or whoever? She's not the Rosa Parks of anything. I'm against the war too, but is her sitting on her ass in a lawnchair in Texas going to stop the war, I don't think so.

a legal war. (Yes, it is legal or somebody would have already sued them to stop.... so save it)

Parks was well aware of the laws and what could happen to her if she did not obey them.

Originally posted by wannabepilot777It's funny to hear a liberal use the word crusade when it is convenient for them. Her campaign was started because of her son's death and the only reason she was notable beyond other protesters was because of her son. You are saying she was right to use her dead son to prove her point?
cru·sade ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kr-sd)
n.- often Crusade Any of the military expeditions undertaken by European Christians in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims.
- A holy war undertaken with papal sanction.
- A vigorous concerted movement for a cause or against an abuse. See Synonyms at campaign.
Originally posted by wannabepilot777except that she was legitimately oppressed and treated as a sub-human by the law. There is a HUGE difference between being for equal rights and being against a legal war. (Yes, it is legal or somebody would have already sued them to stop.... so save it)
for example, we can't have same sex marriage or give same same sex couples the same rights, because it is the law not to? yet they're being oppressed when it comes to matters of equal rights. but of course, that doesn't matter, because the laws that do not allow for the equal rights as they are are....is the law, right?
and no, the war is not totally legal. i thought you were all gung-ho on the constitution? you should know these things.

Originally posted by stlgph- her crusade went beyond her son and went to the war in general
Originally posted by stlgph- Rosa Parks' actions could be called stupid and selfish. she said herself she didn't move because she was 'too tired.' too bad. when i'm 'too tired' i still have to follow the rules.
Originally posted by stlgph- Sheehan did get arrested for not following the rules. same as Rosa Parks.

Originally posted by wannabepilot777Sheehan was standing for herself. She was selfish and in shock that her son was killed. She not only had her time with the president, but she wanted more! I have sympathy for her, but what she did was stupid and selfish and all it did was make a running joke of her. Her son volunteered to serve and to die, as it happened, for his country. She, unlike Mrs. Parks, was very much empowered to do as she wished. Sheehan didn't commit anarchy at all. It is well within her limits to protest in the manner she did. Think before you type.

WASHINGTON — Rosa Parks (search), the seamstress whose act of defiance on a public bus a half-century ago helped spark the civil rights movement, will join presidents and war heroes who have been honored in death with a public viewing in the Capitol Rotunda.
Parks, who died Monday in Detroit at age 92, also will be the first woman to lie in honor in the Rotunda, the vast circular room under the Capitol dome.
