Here is a sobering tale of the perils getting up to mischief on trains in the UK, this all happened this morning:
Me and my wife boarded the 1054 Waterloo-Southampton and took seats in the leading coach which is the quiet coach and also has power points for me to plug my laptop into. After leaving Woking there was only 5 people in the carriage and a young couple who had boarded at Clapham Junction were sat in the seats right at the front behind the driver, by the time we stormed through Farnborough a few minutes later it was obvious (to me at least) that the aforementioned couple were quite brazenly having sex on the seat
, it was at this point that as a member of railway staff I guess should have intervened-but what exactly do you do in such a situation? I don't recall separating mating chavs being part of the training course that I went on all those years ago, in any case I have just had a week of commuters trying to pick fights with me because their fares went up 5% so I was in no mood to get involved in any further confrontation-particularly on my day off.
What was immediately obvious to me was that they were sitting (if you can call it that) directly underneath one of the CCTV cameras, they seemed entirely oblivious to the fact that the conductor was getting a free ticket to their live show and this became apparent about 5 minutes prior to arrival at Basingstoke (the Woking-Basingstoke sector is about 20 minutes) when I could see the driver poking his head around the corner and peering through the darkened glass on his door-I know that the CCTV cannot be viewed in the cab so the conductor (who was 5 coaches away) must have told him.
Anyway, the conclusion to the story is that on arrival at Basingstoke the couple got off and as they did they were spoken to by the driver who pointed out the CCTV camera, the look on their faces was priceless.....but not as priceless as the one a few moments later when the police met them on the platform
.
So the moral of the story is that the cameras on our trains work very well, and the conductor can view any camera at any time and rewind/fast forward as required-so I guess there really is no hiding place for such lewd behaviour.
The worst aspect of this is that the train involved was the same class as the one in my avatar which I now feel has been violated lol. Of course I would feel less violated if the female half of this double act had either looked older than 15 or not been as ugly as hell
