Getting to YVR from SEA.

I'm thinking about going spotting at a big airport with my dad sometime next year. I'd really like to get to Vancouver, because I hear it's a good airport, and I've never left the US before. Does anyone know if there is a train or something that runs between Seattle and Vancouver, and how much it costs?

Well apparently their like 120 miles apart so I guess driving is an option.

Greyhound goes between Vancouver and Seattle.

Vancouver is a great place, deffinetly go there. Don't just go spotting at YVR though. If thats all you do (the first time you go there), then you'll miss a lot. Deffinetly check out Stanley Park, and the waterfront area. Also there is the sea plane airport in the Harbor. Then last time I went, we went to Van Heusen (or something like that, I forget the exact name) botannical gardens. That was nice, I got some good photos there and it was relaxing. Also go see the Storyeum in Gastown, thats very interesting. Grouse mountain is nice too. Besides these things, there are a lot of other things.

Vancouver and Calagary are some of the nicest cities out west! Grayhound is an option but it will probley be easier/cheaper just renting a car and driving up.

forget nicest city out west, Vancouver is probably the best city i have been to in the world! forget the spotting, just go for a drive down Granville and look at the houses! Capilano suspension bridge was awesome too! i love Vancouver!

There is an express bus that takes you from SEA straight to YVR. I will have to do some research to come up with the name of it, but my neighbor has used it more than once and she said it goes to the cruise ship harbor and then the airport (or the other way around, I can't recall).

Using Horizon is always another option. Or Air Canada Jazz

Horizon and jazz cost too much. It's about 360 per person just to go 120 miles. I would like to fly on a dash 8 but that's too much. Does anyone know if a rental company will let you take one of their cars across the border?

First, I have to say that I've already been twice to Vancouver and it's really an awesome city. I would even recommend you to go to Vancouver island where Victoria is (beautiful little town) and to Butchard Gardens (one of the best botanical gardens that I've visited in the world). Like the others said, going just for spotting is missing a lot.

Second, about rental cars, I did exactly the opposite, I rented a car in Vancouver and went to visit Seattle. The Canadian rental companies let their cars cross the border but I don't know about the American ones. But you just have to call one of them and they will tell you that immediately.

It isn't a problem to drive a rental car across the border from the US.

You are driving to Canada for crying out loud. Check with the rental company to make sure they do not have insurance difficulties.
