  • Everyone read...especially the "young" ones...

I've had it up to here with this place and reading drama after juvenile drama here. So this isn't going to be "nice":

I've got news for everyone: this is an ADULT forum. We talk about an ADULT hobby and sometimes use ADULT humor with ADULT movies, books, and subject matter underlying the fabric of a conversation.

We are aware that there are members here who aren't ADULTS yet. And that is fine....IF...your demeanor can remain reasonably mature and can keep in step with this ADULT MINDED forum.

The administrators here have, for the most part, let all of you kids post your little back and forth, "joking" with one another. Your little "Yes you are, no I'm not" 5 page diatribes. And providing it doesn't get extremely out of hand, then we leave you alone. DESPITE the fact that these little dialogues do very little for the overall ADULT, MATURE content we would like to subscribe to at this forum. Because we do want to be welcoming to persons...even if you're younger.

But it's getting to the ridiculous point now when I see things like the "Notice" thread being stretched into 9 pages of name calling. And what's MORE is you kids are accusing people like MIKE and ITS of being immature. Heck, we even had a person jumping down their throats for baiting as if THAT is the main reason for the immature bickering.

What have Mike and ITS done wrong...really? Besides post some ADULT minded humor that went against the grain a bit. I'm 28 years old and I found Mike's little Jack D Ripper "emoticon" bit FUNNY as Hell! Why? Because he (and ITS) have been taking all your little "serious" juvenile bickering and TRYING to make you understand that this is a friggin internet forum and it SHOULD be taken lightly!

And understanding that this place is suPPOSED to be fun. Not a continuous Teen-drama fest. That is NOT what we want this place to be.

So the basic point is this: if we are allowing you kids to have your biiiiiigggg loooonnnggg threads of basically one line "inside joke" silliness....then the adults should be allowed to have their jokes too without being talked down to by 14 year olds.

And if y'all don't GET this humor, then GET OVER IT. Stop telling them to "shut up" and that they are "stupid". Just move on...there is absolutely no need to get bent out of shape over their version of humor. Humor comes in all different colors...and we certainly have room for all of those here. You do not OWN this forum and it is not your OWN personal playground where we only talk and joke around like YOU want to.

You know...Mike risked his life over there fighting for you people who are being incredibly disrespectful of him. And disrespectful why? Because you don't like his "Jack D Ripper" bit? Give me a break. You don't run this forum and you are not the only members of this forum...so what gives you the authority to decide what's ok and what isn't.

The bottom line is that this is a forum for grown-ups. If you are under 21 then we are happy to have you...but stop using this place as your own personal playground and insulting the adults here who haven't done a damned thing to you but kid around with you a bit. If you can't be mature in your visits here, then it's time for us to assess whether you're "ready" to be here.

    Shape up or ship out.

Its great they hes doing that. But does he have to be all snotty about the fact that we havent reached an age where we can do that? No, thats the only problem i have with him. Otherwise good statement.

He made those statements in regards to his service in Afghanistan as compared to y'all's lack of service after reading statements directed at him such as these littered throughout the thread:

        YOU are an idiot.
No you didn't I could post the same thing in Iraq. This forum is not a Nation. You didn't do anything.

Your Gen. Ripper was a crazy madman, and should've been shot. He did nothing for this country. You really need to be put into an institution. Because this crap is really pathetic. Go back an fly A-10s. For the Air Force.

No wonder I like the Navy better.
        OK, ENOUGH ALREADY!

MikeD: You are now getting a little irritating with your Ripper thing. Get over it. Ripper was a fictional dude. He does not actually exist. Just stop it OK.

Greg: Stop playing up to this Ripper fellow.
Aww great not this emotion bull crap again. And Mike, how about some insults that actually...um...insult? You are an emotion?? What the hell is that supposed to mean!!!
Then...when Mike's grown tired of the fact that y'all still don't get his very harmless, very ADULT joke because no one will look up Dr. Strangelove and get a bit educated, he poses a legitmate question: Now Delta Cappy and the rest, why don't you all tell me what you've done for us lately?

And this was the response he got:

What the hell do you think we could have done!!! Were 14-15 years old!!! And your bitchin at us for being lazy asses. Live a day in my life will you. Then bitch at me.

Answer to this? Answer to "what the hell you think we could have done?" PLENTY. There are plenty of youth organizations around there that are designed to help this country. Perhaps not with the MILITARY...but inside our country at it's very fabric. If you just look around a bit and use those search engines you're all familiar with now...you could find BUNDLES to do to help out this country. I've seen quite a few of you complain about summer boredom. And if you're so bored...and want something which could not only help out this country, but could also look good on college aplications, then GET INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY for God's sakes. You'd be surprised what you can do.

My Dad is not in the military...but guess where he is? Afghanistan. Helping from the inside. Helping to rebuild the country and assist with their education system. He's financed through a US counsel to start an entire program there from the ground up...

He joined the Peace Corps when he was 53 before he began being paid for this sort of work...volunteering for THIS country to help OTHER countries.

My point? You are never too young or too old to have some purpose in your life and to do something meaningful.

It's great if you have a job to save for your own stuff. But giving back to others could give you a whole new perspective on things.

Mike's only crime is subscribing to a humor that a handful of you don't understand and won't take the time out to look up. And I can't blame him for getting a little bent out of shape for being cursed at for calling people "emoticons". For goodness sakes, it's a joke...and he meant nothing "mean" or "sinister" by it.

I beleive the major problems have been banned because they wouldn't listen, and the rest have been suitably dealt with. I beleive that the problems have been dealt with and now people should be able to post without having people who don't get it to spoil it. I honestly think the site is better now and the forums are much more fun, entetaining, and educational. It's also nice that the Mods put forth what the guidelines are and warn you so you can change and realize the egotistic behavior only hurts you.

                    For those who missed it...

It will make more sense if you watch the movie "Dr. Strangelove" first.

haha, age has nothing to do with it guys.
Sure, the majority of the "trouble makers" are juveniles does not mean they are all misfits in your eyes.
Heck, i'm 12, but i belive i conduct myself in a professional manner, and i don't bicker and joke around all the time.
Its not really the age that has to do with it, its the maturity of the personality that factors in.

I'm impressed, you certainly sound much older than any 12 year old i've ever known, proof that there are many many kids who are capable of acting as maturely as the situation dictates - however, the few that are incapable will get whats coming to them!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
