  • "Virtual" Captains

    There is an old saying:

"Some men are made Captains, ans some are born Captains"

Having been around them much of my life I can say there are many different Captains.

    Some are opinionated,
    Some mild and meek.
Others have strong personalities while others are wild for no reason.
Most are very knowlegeable of thier profession while others are insecure.

Having said this----I can say my favorites are the VIRTUAL CAPTAINS of the internet.

They run thier own virtual companies, fly virtual flights, and--in my mind, BARK VIRTUAL COMMANDS.

Man you have to love it.

HATS OFF TO THE VIRTUAL AIRLINE CAPTAIN----YOUR VIRTUAL AIRLINE DEPENDS UPON YOU

          InTheShade...

How dare you insult virtual captains and therefore the proud, brave, courageous men and women of the VIRTUAL UNITED STATES AIR FORCE.

These men and women have served our country since the dawn of flight simulator, acting to protect us from the dangers of terrorism, rogue nations, and various other virtual threats.

I watch you type in front of your pathetic computer, and am appaled by the fact that you have never been in a virtual combat situation, striking targets thousands of virtual miles away from you home.

          Show some respect.

Hmmm, guess that must make me a General in the Virtual Air Force by now. I was running Chuck Yeager's Combat Simulator as well as the original release of MS FS on an Apple II twenty years ago, and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe on a 286 clone at least a dozen years ago.

Why you young virtual fliers think you have it tough now? I can remember when joysticks had only 2 buttons and no force feedback! Flew my first missions on a GREEN SCREEN!!!

You guys go ahead and laugh with us virtual captains. At least we can't die in a crash, be attacked by drunken passengers, be hijacked and, above all, we don't lose your job when our airline goes bust. And we do have some real-life advantages too: for example, I'll be visiting the Sabena Flight Academy on August 16, including the simulators, for free thanks to my virtual airline... Your turn! :P

Flightcrew epaulets are like emoticons...they divide, segregate and categorize pilots.
