With the really cold temps in Canada over the last week or two I was able to capture a rare light show (in my area atleast) that is caused by Ice crystals in the lower atmosphere! What you are seeing is the street and factory lights reflecting, high in the sky, off of the crystals. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe this is what it is! I think it looks amazing, reminds me of something like Las Vegas! ENJOY...

Gary, excellent photos! Last Thursday, I was working a shift at KBUF, and as the snow was clearing out, and all the lights around made for a very nice picture, much like the ones you showed. I got off shift at Midnight, and my drive home back to Crapchester was full of the same images all along I-90. Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Dennis I really like your shot of that Antonov in CYYZ while your aircraft is taxiing, my company serviced that aircraft that day!!! Thanks also for you comments about the lights!!!

I saw the Auroras in upper Alberta (Just N. of Edmonton) and in the Yukon Territories. It just looks stunning.

I must also say that I like N. British Columbia, Yukon way more than Alaska. Its just way more wild. Especially those stretches of road between Watson Lake and Whitehorse and Ft. Nelson. Awsome

Polishair42, I love the northern lights aswell, I just want to confirm though that this is not the northern lights in the photos, it is actually just street lights/factory lights shooting high into the night sky!
