  • My dog just died.

He hadn’t been eating for a few days and looked really upset, he wouldn’t even eat his favourite foods like bacon. When I arrived home today my mom's car was gone and ben wasn't around, I knew she had taken him to get put down.

So here I am now clutching his red collar listening to my favourite music to try and take my mind off of it. Knowing I can't go and give my wee buddy of 17 years a cuddle will take a little getting used to.

I miss him allready and it's only been a few hours.

Mom say's I should go to the vet tonight and see him before he's cremated, I'm not keen, I just want to remember him when he was still alive.

So appreciate the one's you care for, because their here one day and then not the next.

    awwwwwwwwwww

damn you. i was just thinking how sad it is i lost my grandfather on the 20th this week a year ago and you made it worse by telling me this. it isnt fun putting your dog to sleep i did it 6 yrs ago and it still hurts not to see her around. i went to see her before she died, and then after she died took her home and i laid down beside her and cried myself to sleep before we buried her. i was so upset.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Its VERY hard to loose a pet, especially one thats been around for years and years. My grandma's dog was born a few days after I was so i pretty much grew up with it, its getting old now and keeps having near-death experiances, when it does die I'm going to be very sad, hopefully it doesn't die while I'm with it in Minneapolis this January.

sorry to hear about that man. I had to go throgh the same thing about a year and a half ago. My dog who was 14 was slowly becoming paralyzed and the vet tried everything she could but it didn't help. While it was a hard decision to make, he was very miserable and it was the right thing to do. Its difficult because after so long, pets really do become part of the family. Again, sorry to hear it and best wishes man.

          Thanks guys.

We were on borrowed time with him for a year or so, he was completely deaf, 90% blind and sometimes had small spasms, which was probably the effect of his stroke he had 10 or so years ago.

We kept him alive for this loong because up until a few days ago he was still wagging his tail and smiling. The vet said he may have lost his appetite because of a internal tumer.

Awwwww, honey. It's very hard to lose a pet. I bet you didn't even consider him a pet, he was probably part of the family wasn't he?? It's a very hard thing to go through, but I know you gave him a good loving home, and sounds like he had a long happy life. Sorry to hear your loss

I am sorry to hear that Dogs are great companions, my dog is just getting the hang of riding in the back of the car during fish tailing. Hope you find a new friend soon, although I am sure your last one is irreplaceable.

Very sorry to here that man. It's always bad to lose your dog, especially when you grew up with each other. I know it'll be hard, but remember all the joy you had with your dog in those 17 years, which is a considerable age for a dog.
