Before it goes too far? Sir. . . I believe we have already crossed that threshold.

I personally DON'T believe every single word in the bible. The reason why is that God is not the author, so to speak, of it. Man is. God spoke to men, who interpreted it into what they think he meant. They then wrote it down, so really, some of it may not be true.
      Hope that helps,
      A.M.

See, that brings in religousness motivated on fear. I believe in God not because of some fear of being reincarnated into a bug or spending life after death in hell, but because God gives me motivation and a clear head to work with modern society and life. God is a power, source of energy that can only come from within. Shoving your faith won't make anyone the wiser.

I am not motivated to my religion by fear; rather fear for other people is what makes me want to spread my religion. I am absolutely sure that I am right about this; what scares me is people who don't know the truth. I am afraid for them. That is why we as Christians are always 'shoviing' our religion down your throat- we care about you and are worried for you.

The Bible is the ultimate authority to you. Not "here". People have numerous faiths and there are many religions in the world. No one really knows which one is true 100%. No one can even prove the existence of God, let alone the divinity of Christ, etc. It's all faith-based. So arguably, the Gita, Torah, Qu'ran and the Vedas are just as ultimate as the Bible. Also, realize the Gita and the Torah predate the Bible, so historically speaking, that'd mean God renegged on this word multiple times.
My mistake; I meant for me so I probably should have said that. And I know which one is true, 100%. There is no contradiction between the Gita and the Bible, because there is only one true book (IMO) therefore God doesn't contradict himself.

I remember learning about all of the historical accuracies that the Bible has been known for which are not found in any other manuscripts of the time- events listed in the Bible that have been proved (or nearly so) by science. Besides that it is faith, but ask any true Christian and they will tell you that no blind faith is needed- they KNOW the Bible is what we (Christians) are supposed to follow.

That's what I love most about Christians, they seem to have this ridiculous belief that they all somehow chose the 'right' religion... what if it turns out that Islam was the true faith on 'judgement day' when you're facing God? All you dirty heathens are heading straight for the hell you always figured you'd be saved from...

Seems a little silly... don't you think?
        We aren't wrong.

Thats the thing though, you really should consider the possiblitys because there is NO proof that christainity is 100% correct. Keep your mind open instead of saying "nah, I KNOW im right."

Nope...they absolutely KNOW, just like you, that they are right and nobody else could even possibly, for even a fraction of a second be right. That's what their book and their god told them.

So next time they come and blow up casinos and other places they KNOW to be 'sinful' or working for the 'sinners', don't worry, they are only doing it because they care for you and are worried for you.

See, the thing is, many people feel just as sure as you that you're going to hell or going to get reincarnated into something terrible or never reach ultimate peace with God. But you don't see them try to convert you every step of the way. The fact of the matter is, most people are comfortable with religion and the last thing they need is somebody on the doorstep preaching down to them. If you really cared about me and worried for me, you'd do a lot more than preach on my stoop. Oh, and you'd listen before moving on to the beauty of the Bible.

...and that book is obviously the Gita, right? No? Well, it is to me. What next? Are we both right, since there is only one true book and therefore God doesn't contradict? Whoa! That means I should try to convert you to the bounties of Hinduism! Come, come, you poor misguided soul! You'll never reach God with your infidel ways! Or I could respect your faith, and you respect mine. We all reach the same spot but on a different road. Put it this way: We're in New York City, and we need to get to Boston. I take I-95 the entire way and pass through Connecticut, RI, etc. You take I-95, then I-87, and take I-90. We both end up in Boston; we just took different routes. So there really isn't any reason to force someone to take I-90 when they know I-95 better and feel safer on that road.

Ditto for the Gita and Vedas and Ramayana. Recently read an article that "found the bridge Hanuman built between India and Lanka to help Ram". The city of Ayodhya, Ram's hometown, has a temple to him. Hmm. And even more amazing, Mathura, the city Lord Krishna was born, also exists. Whoa! So archaeology has proven the religion true! Does that validate Hinduism? So that means that Hindus KNOW their scripts are what's meant to be followed.

                  We aren't wrong.

Or are we? Or are you? Or is it the stupid Interstate to Boston trick all over again?

The point is, religion is a personal matter. You shouldn't try to convert every wretched soul to your faith. Your faith is what affirms your confidence, and many people just appease those mindless people (sarcasm) who rant to convert. My mom had this annoying Bible lady that gave her Bible lessons for a year. She wasn't convinced by it, so she gave the woman a copy of the Gita and read soem verses. The lady never came back. That proved that those people trying to convert us aren't sincere-they prey on those that question their own faith and don't give them time to decide what they want. Religion should be something that the individual derives from within. I don't want a book telling me how to live my life; I just want simple pointers and God's blessing.

Might I suggest checking to see if jetblue still has that $25 fare? With gass prices and parking so high these days, you're better off taking the FUNGWAH bus any way.

Good. If you are part of a religion, support it all the way. I expect Jews to think that THEY are the right ones, and I expect Muslims to do the same. If you are a Hindu, then be the best Hindu that you can be. I am merely trying to be the best Christian that I can be.

KBOS, the gravity reference was to show that you don't need 100% scientific proof to know that something is true. Arrow pointed out that is is actually a law and not a theory. I guess you'll have to look at the Muscle Sliding-Filament Theory now...

Anyways, you all have heard my beliefs, and I now know yours. That's enough for me.
