  • Firefox could be in trouble.

Lately I've noticed Firefox has been unstable. It seems like it's more susceptible to spy ware now, just like I.E. A virus/spyware tutorial I often visit has updated to mention these issues, and they recommended using Opera as a alternative browser. http://www.opera.com/ I will be trying out Opera.

Yeah, it's been crashing A LOT lately- when richard gets possessed and starts kicking me out of the chat, firefox gets pissed, crashes and I just can't get it to run again... Quite annoying actually :|

mine actually crashed today, I was like 'wtf?',
then it crashed again, again, again, 4 times in a row completely rand00m, ran spyware, nothing found.
then it said it was in use, made a new profile, and now it wont accept cookies on this profile.
does anyone know how to change profiles in FF without having to drag stuff?

Have you guys noticed that Firefox does not block pop-ups as good as IE does?

But like I should say, futher testing will be required on my part.

Opera seems like a good browser, it's still early days yet. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

You kiddin me? I havn't gotten a single popup with Firefox ever. Don't have any spyware problem either.

Spyware could also stem from all the other junk people may have on their computer, that comes with it, or gets installed what afterwards from dowloads, programs, DVD's etc.

Also everyone with firefox should have these 3 plugins:
              https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...info.php?id=10
              https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...o.php?&id=1136
              https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...nfo.php?id=433

Those will take care of any ads, once you have the first 2, flashblock is redundant, but I still use it.

I have been using Firefox 1.5 for over a week now and no crashes. Ironically, the only popups I get is when I hit my homepage, JetPhotos.net....

Thats because I think JP.net has the most pop-ups out of any site in the world.

Go to prowrestling.com and you'll think different .
Personally, haven't had any problems with Firefox (still 1.0.7) in recent memory, other that sometimes is shut down if AVG detects some security problem (spyware, virus, to that extent).

Spyware enters your computer because of a website, your browser doesn't matter.

I changed a few configuration settings in Firefox to 'pipeline' it. This means it can handle more requests at once

                        Also, don't forget NoScript (https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...ation=firefox).

I know, but AVG nonetheless discontinues Firefox when said warning comes up.
