    Fixed it up with some ducttape and we took off again with a new cable.
    Ducttape fixes EVERYTHING!!!

    (And apparently it can protect your home from terrorists, too!)

      I was on a flight from London Gatwick to Fuerteventura in 1992 on Caledonian. I don't remember the plane, but it was twin engined. Half way through the flight one of the engines failed.

      We had to turn round and go back to Gatwick. I remember we had to lower altitude and lower the undercarriage to burn extra fuel. It wasn't that scary, but we took a lot of runway distance to stop and we were followed by several fire engines. It was more inconvenient than alarming.
