Actually, that's wrong as well . Correct spelling would be 'Der Fuhrer'.

'Das' is feminine, 'Der' is masculine.

Well almost. More correct (assuming there are varying degrees of correctness) would be "Der Fuehrer", if you have an English keyboard. If you have a German keyboard you'd spell it "Der Führer". "Umlauts" deserve their share of attention, you know.

Not true either. 'Das' is neuter, and not feminine. (Even though you would say "Das Mädchen". Go figure.)

Perhaps, but I have yet to read any English site/book where the umlaut is being used, always just 'Fuhrer'.

Or 'Das Weibsstück' ahem. But anyway, that's the advantage of the genderless 'the', or on the contrary, our typical German love of making everything as complicated as possible .

Btw, since we all used a term relating to the Nazis, I guess we have all lost now .

Yes, I suppose that's true. Just like Nürnberg becomes Nuremberg and München becomes Munich. Interesting that the English spelling of "Der Führer" would change the spelling of "Führer" (which makes sense, given the Umlaut), but retain the article "Der".

Good thing I haven't written any German history books in English lately

And for what reason? Because it went off-topic? Then 75% of all threads would have to be locked.
