yes, they simply are. There is a reason North Dakota is loosing population when every other state is gaining it. Farms are important and all, but huge companies and mega ports are more so.

wrong. We are a capatalist society, therefore it is a safe bet that the majority of the people who make up "future of the airline industry" will not remain in places such as North Dakota when they become valuable to the nation economicly.
