  • CD/DVD Copying

So what do you guys use to cut your CDs? What version? Is it any good? I use Nero, but I suspect it's quite old and requiring an update.

Wouldnt even know how to go about copying a CD. I'm awful with computers!!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

I have 5.5.8.0 but I don't think that's the latest version. I saw something the other day that looked must different, maybe CD Creator or something like that? Anyone used that?

Roxio (formerly Adaptec) EZ CD creator. Have not made one coaster in years. I always buy the latest version.

For DVD's there is some software called DVD Xcopy and Xcopy Express. One allows you to back up an entire 9gig DVD over two 4.7 gig DVD's maintaining all menus and options, the other strips everything but the movie and selected sound track but fits it on one DVD. Awesome tools for saving your expensive DVD's from over use and or damage from little ones....

Wow that DVD XCopy sounds Ok might have a look at that.

A question though, when blank DVD's are so expensive and you can buy DVD's for under $15US, why would people copy them? I bought a DVD Player to back up digital pictures and can say that I haven't used it for anything else yet.

Today I may change that and copy a DVD just to say I have

              ADG,
While some DVDs are down under $15.00USD others are not. Some remain over $20.00. Blank DVDs can be had for around $1.80 ea. when purchased in lots of 10 or more at a time which makes it very economical to back up some rare DVDs.

Granted, it would not make any sense, legally or illegally to rent a movie for $4.99 and copy it on to two $2 doallar DVDs when you can buy a used one at blockbuster for $9.99, and not worry about going to jail for doing so.

If you have a mini-DV camcorder, then moving your footage from those tapes to DVD is very easy, and fun to do. Adding chapters and menus like a real DVD makes sharing your "home movies" more enjoyable when you can cut right to the good parts and not have to bore everyone with the "normal" everyday stuff.

I highly recomend DVD Xcopy. It copies EVERYTHING, and is very easy to use. Same for Xcopy Express.

I use the same as you, it rules. I like it way better than Nero.

Not a writer, but you'll have to agree that most if not all copying is related to piracy...

A lot of people go to a rental place, get a stack of DVDs or CDs, copy them at home and bring them back.
They never buy anything themselves, and some even sell the copies...
