Update: Well, my brother is now at Gagetown in New Brunswick for more intense training. Such at IED, Convoy, LAV III, Close combat, Person identification (suicide bomber), etc. He is learning the rules of engagement and different scenarios. One such, is having to call in a medic for a downed mate, what to say and how to say it in code, so the Islamodonkeys don't pick it up and send some mortars your way.

Other than that, they are taking them from boys to men. In a couple of months he will be boarding a plane headed for the Land of Pashtuns. We wish him well and we know that our government is behind them as well as the country.

Sorry mate! That statement wasn't meant to be inflamatory in any way, but I reffered to it as our cause simply because we were the attacked and the ones that spearheaded the offensive in Iraq. I didn't mean it to sound as if the Canadians hadn't done as much as the Americans, if that's what you got from my post.

Cameron, I spent October 2003-May 2004 in Kabul at Camp Julien as a civilian contractor with the Canadian Forces( I am retired military 22 years in), and would be the first to agree that is one frigged up country. Tell your bro to get all he can from the training, and be very aware of his surroundings in country. Time there will be 99% boredom, so decide on a "project" eg take up a new hobby, read all the books you ever wanted to read. In my case I went to the gym 6/7 days and hit the treadmill.

A few of my pics are on this site, just do a search using Kabul International as a location.

    I wish him well!
    Nice post.

Cam, hope your brother stays safe.
